Course Outline

Participants will learn how to:

  • Navigate the interface effectively.
  • Set the size of projects.
  • Position guide lines in the project, including the distribution of columns.
  • Save project files.
  • Use the tool palette.
  • Insert text and graphics from other files and programs, including Microsoft Office.
  • Work with text frames and graphics in Adobe InDesign.
  • Employ tools for editing text and graphics.
  • Create ornamental text.
  • Link text boxes in a logical sequence.
  • Create your own library of helpful tools.
  • Create custom style elements, including characters, graphics, fonts, and colours.
  • Save time by using tools for quick switching between styles created by you.
  • Create templates for repetitive projects.
  • Work with colours across a variety of palettes.
  • Work with multi-page documents.
  • Set up page numbering and define sections.
  • Manage external linked files.
  • Print the document.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with vector and raster graphics is useful but not required
