This instructor-led, live training in New Zealand (online or on-site) is designed for DevOps engineers and developers who want to deploy and manage OpenStack services on cloud infrastructures using Kubernetes.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Deploy, configure, and manage MOS and its components.
• Access OpenStack APIs.
• Perform routine OpenStack operations such as backup, restore, and more.
• Upgrade OpenStack deployments.

The aim of this course is to familiarise participants with the OpenStack environment from both operator and administrator perspectives. Following a brief introduction to cloud computing, you will be provided with your own OpenStack instance to carry out hands-on operational and administrative tasks. The course covers all fundamental components of OpenStack, ranging from general architecture to cloud administration. The format is highly practical, with approximately 90% of the course dedicated to workshops conducted in a real OpenStack environment.

The course encompasses all topics included in the Certified OpenStack Administrator exam, preparing participants both theoretically and practically. Additionally, the programme has been extended to include topics that will help participants better understand the key considerations and nuances required to successfully pass the exam. By the end of the course, every participant will have the opportunity to assess their knowledge through a mock COA exam.

Gaining insight into the internals of Neutron (the Networking Service) is another essential aspect of OpenStack architecture. Following this, participants will be introduced to methods for troubleshooting issues within OpenStack clusters, ranging from general best practices and network diagnostics to the specific pitfalls of major OpenStack services. Approximately 75% of the course consists of hands-on workshops conducted in a real-world OpenStack training environment.

This course offers comprehensive training on OpenStack. It begins with an introduction to the system, followed by hands-on workshops that provide practical expertise in managing private clouds built on OpenStack. The curriculum concludes with troubleshooting techniques and advanced architectural topics. The primary objective is to familiarise participants with the OpenStack ecosystem while laying a robust foundation for further expansion and refinement of OpenStack cloud environments. This course provides comprehensive training on OpenStack. The extended version of the OpenStack Bootcamp course includes additional exercises, troubleshooting scenarios, and sample examination tasks. Extended content is highlighted in bold within the course outline. It begins with an introduction to the system, then moves through hands-on workshops to provide practical knowledge for managing private clouds based on OpenStack. Finally, it covers troubleshooting and advanced architectural topics. The goal of this course is to familiarise participants with the OpenStack ecosystem as well as to give a strong background for further expansion and refinement of the OpenStack clouds. The course comprises all topics necessary to accomplish the Certificate OpenStack Administrator exam. 75% of the course is based on hands-on workshops in the real OpenStack training environment. After the course, participants receive all the materials and training environment for self-study and further/troubleshooting exercises.

Customization options

The full course is intended to last at least 5 days. It could be shortened if some of the topics are not relevant for the customer. In case the participants are beginners to OpenStack (slower pace), it is recommended to expand the course for 6 days or remove some advanced topics. The course can also be extended with 1 more day when OVN topics can be presented.

This course offers an in-depth training programme on OpenStack networking. It begins with an introduction to OpenStack and its architecture, then clarifies core OpenStack projects—including the Identity service (Keystone), Image service (Glance), Compute service (Nova), and Block Storage (Cinder)—to set the context for networking within OpenStack, with a primary focus on the Networking project (Neutron). The virtual network infrastructure is explored based on the Open Virtual Network (OVN) project, Open vSwitch, and OpenFlow. The course aims to provide a thorough understanding of the basic operations and architecture of OpenStack, while familiarising participants with the various networking technologies underpinning it, including detailed coverage of OVN, underlying flows, resources, and tools.

The training can be condensed into two days, concentrating on the core aspects most relevant to the customer. Alternatively, it can be extended to include additional topics such as administration, design, networking, and troubleshooting related to OpenStack deployments. It is also possible to cover other underlying Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions, such as Linux Bridge or Open vSwitch (OvS).

This course delivers practical expertise in OpenStack and private cloud security. Beginning with an introduction to the system, participants gain hands-on knowledge of securing private clouds and implementing robust OpenStack installations. Throughout the course, each core OpenStack module is examined, with participants building virtual identity, image, network, compute, and storage resources while exploring relevant security considerations. Every participant receives a dedicated training environment featuring a complete OpenStack deployment tailored to a chosen cloud architecture (e.g., storage, networking). The training can be highly customised to meet the specific needs of the client.
