Course Outline

Introduction

Data management involves the storage and processing of data. Within an enterprise context, this function takes on a significantly broader scope. The sheer volume of data and the speed at which it must be processed, secured, shared, analysed, and managed are critical factors.

This course is designed for entry-level engineers. It covers the various technologies, tools, architectures, and design methodologies employed to manage large-scale data volumes. We explore traditional data storage methods, such as relational databases, alongside newer, less structured approaches.

The curriculum compares traditional file systems with distributed file systems, and contrasts conventional server architecture with clustered server architecture, all within the context of managing and processing big data across distributed systems.

Attendees will engage in practical exercises and assessments, followed by instructor-led coaching and group discussions.
