Course Outline

Day 1

Settling In and Preparatory Formalities

Preparation of materials, welcoming participants, and serving refreshments.

Module 1: My Confidence, My Stage

Exploring the importance of self-confidence in achieving successful public speaking delivery and effective personal expression.

Activity 1: I am Me

Participants will take the floor to share information about themselves, helping to build confidence and self-esteem.

Module 2: The Power of Influence and Persuasion – How Will I Make People Listen?

A discussion on the significance of crafting and delivering ideas that aim to influence, inspire, and capture attention.

Activity 2: The Blind Guide

Three participants from each group will attempt to build a tower using Lego or building blocks with alternating colours. Two of them will be blindfolded, while only one team member remains unblindfolded to act as the captain. This captain will guide the two blindfolded members solely through verbal instructions. One blindfolded participant will construct the tower, while the other relays the instructions.

Synthesis Session

A summary and discussion highlighting the key takeaways from the previous session.

Module 3: Public Speaking and Its Structure

An exploration of public speaking structure, preparation techniques, and key considerations for effective delivery.

Activity 3: My Crazy Story

Participant groups will collaborate to create a story based on a single assigned topic.

Module 4: Constructing and Delivering the Speech

This session focuses on methods for organising speech content, identifying effective delivery strategies, and preparing personally for presentation.

Final Synthesis and Assignment Delivery

Participants will be assigned one of several topics for discussion, with each presentation lasting a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes.

Activity 1: Delivery of Identified Topics through Public Presentation

Module 5: Integrating Public Speaking with the Internet Superhighway

Requirements

  • A foundational understanding of basic communication skills, idea delivery, and social media interaction.
  • Prior experience in client communication, customer relations, and general public speaking and discussion.
